Introducing the “New” Fontaine Modification Company

Fontaine announces changes to become more flexible and responsive

ATLANTA (May 4, 2010) WasteExpo Booth #3675 — The Fontaine Modification Company management team has made extensive improvements to the organization over the last 18 months and is now ready to introduce the “new” Fontaine. Fontaine remains the leading provider of truck modification services for OEMs, dealers and fleets throughout North America, but its new streamlined structure, state-of-the-art Innovation Center, focus on core services, and expanded network of dedicated service centers allow the company to be even more flexible and responsive to refuse industry customers’ changing needs.

“The new Fontaine Modification builds upon the company’s half century of experience, strong partnerships with leading truck OEMs, and unmatched design and engineering capabilities,” says Will Trantham, president of Fontaine Modification since October 2008. “By reorganizing our internal structure, we now utilize industry best practices to provide our customers with consistently high quality, fast turnaround times and innovative new services.”

The company has condensed its service offerings to focus on those most requested by customers. For the refuse industry, these core services include:

·        Dual Driving Stations that enable an operator to drive a refuse collection vehicle from either the right- or left-hand side, depending on the route.

·        Chassis Configuration Services, including drop-frame and step-frame conversions.

·        Alternative Fuel Services, including installation of CNG and LNG engines and fuel delivery systems.

Services are delivered through a unique network of dedicated centers located next to major truck OEM manufacturing facilities across the United States. Each of the seven service

centers is staffed by a facility manager and a team of experienced technicians. All administrative personnel, sales engineers and other staff have been moved to the company’s Charlotte, N.C., headquarters. Fontaine has added two service centers in the last year, one in Williamstown, W.V., and another in Laredo, Texas.

All of the company’s research and development has been consolidated into a new Innovation Center at the Charlotte headquarters, as well. Previously, new post-production truck modification services, documentation and work processes were developed independently at each service center, resulting in duplicated effort and inconsistency. Now, a centralized engineering team designs every new industry offering at the Innovation Center, where the work processes are thoroughly documented to ensure consistent quality and results. Removing engineering from a production environment also enables Fontaine to provide innovative design solutions with unbeatable speed to market.

“Innovation is key to Fontaine Modification’s ongoing growth and success,” explains Trantham. “We have to understand the market and our customers in order to continue to develop new services that they will need in the future. Over time, many of the niche services we provide are absorbed by the OEMs. Continuous innovation is what enables us to survive and thrive.”
